Mrs. Frank’s Primary Special Education Class
Well,
here we are, back at school again!
We work hard at maintaining a balance between grade level work and reinforcing
the skills that each individual student needs strengthening in.
Here’s a preview of how we’ve begun this
quarter:
Math
In
grades two and three we have started off reviewing addition and subtraction, and
will be moving into multi-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping.
In fourth and fifth grade we are beginning with place value and ordering
numbers. Across the board we are
also working on math fundamentals such as number recognition, being able to move
up and down the number line, and basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication
facts.
Reading
Everyone
is working on rate, fluency, and comprehension.
In addition, we are also working on being able to use context clues and
understand story elements. Every
Friday have a 30 minutes of reading time, alternating between silent reading and
teacher-led reading.
Language
Arts
Everyone
is working on spelling words that relate to the stories that they are reading.
In addition, we have begun the year talking about sentence structure,
such as subjects and predicates, and complete sentences vs. sentence fragments.
We are also working on writing several times a week.
