Physical Education

Coach Pete Howard

Welcome back Vikings! I hope everyone had a relaxing but active summer :) For those of you who are new, my name is Pete Howard and this is my fifteenth year at Taft. I graduated from Hannibal LaGrange College in 2003, and I have been at Taft ever since. I have been married to my wife Megan for 14 years, and we have three children Landon 11, Lydia 9  and Levi 7.

I am very excited for this school year. We have many exciting plans for our Physical Education classes this year. Dr. Kibbons worked very hard to get us heart rate monitors for our fifth through eighth grade classes. We will be learning about heart rate zones throughout the year and using our heart rate monitors on Fitness Fridays.

We are also excited about our sports teams here at Taft. Softball and Baseball are currently underway, and they are doing a great job. The upcoming athletic opportunities at Taft are cheerleading, girls basketball, boys basketball, girls volleyball, boys volleyball and track and field.

I would like to thank the Taft Foundation for their efforts in supporting Taft Athletics again this school year. We are all extremely grateful for your countless hours and support. It is a great example for our students seeing their parents working as a team towards a common goal.
