"report card."

As part of the annual cycle of evaluation,
the administration of Taft School District 90 creates a
development plan for its students. Below is the current
plan:

Areas of Success
The overall performance of Taft students on the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) has increased from 66% of students meeting and exceeding standards in 2004-05 to 81% of students meeting and exceeding standards in 2005-06.
At 4th and 7th grade, the percentages of students meeting and exceeding standards in science were higher in 2005-06 than in 2004-05, and higher than state averages in 2005-06.
At 3rd, 5th, and 8th grade, the percentages of students meeting and exceeding standards in math and reading were mostly higher in 2005-06 than in 2004-05.
At 4th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, the percentages of students meeting and exceeding standards in math and reading were comparable to or higher than state averages in 2005-06.
Areas for Planned Improvement
One of the school improvement goals for the 2006-07 school year is to improve students' reading comprehension skills.
The following activities will be implemented by the staff throughout the school year: * Develop a school-wide reading strategies focus. * Share methods of teaching various reading strategies with colleagues. * Model the use of reading strategies such as predicting, connecting, and summarizing. * Ask students to prepare a written response after reading a selection. * Provide opportunities for students to take Accelerated Reader tests. * Develop a plan to use assessment results to focus instruction for various ability levels.
A second school improvement goal for the 2006-07 school year is to improve students' skills in the areas of showing respect and responsibility, and doing their academic best.
The following activities will be implemented by the staff throughout the school year: * Enforce Taft School District 90 Discipline Policy. * Implement classroom discipline plans. * Have school-wide theme: Respect, Responsibility, and Our Academic Best. * Explain and enforce the following expectations: Respect: Treat others the way you want them to treat you. No name calling, making fun of someone, or excluding someone. Keep hands and feet to self. Listen while people are talking. Show school pride. Keep the school clean. Use equipment properly. Responsibility: Be prepared for class. Bring homework, planner, books, pencils and/or pens, and any other necessary supplies. Be on time for school and class. Our Academic Best: Do best work at all times. Turn in work on time. If absent, see teacher(s) for missed work. * Present Respect Award at Awards Assembly four times during the school year. * Plan quarterly reward system to reinforce appropriate behavior.
